About Me

Hi! I’m Brittany. I am a full stack software engineer with a background in medical sciences. I enjoy problem-solving, building things, and collaborating in group settings. My software engineering journey began when I attended App Academy, a rigorous 1000+ hour coding bootcamp with a 3% acceptance rate, learning and sharpening my skills in essential coding languages, frameworks, galore! I have built multiple projects, including 5 full stack applications of which everything was built from scratch: from front-end to back-end, environment, routes, database tables, authentication, internal logic, and css design. I have also had extensive paired programming experience. My projects use javascript, python, react, redux, html, css, node, express, flask, postgresql, sequelize, and more!

Before I changed careers, I studied medicine. At 17 years old, I enrolled in a highly competitive accelerated B.S./M.D. program where I graduated from Penn State with a B.S. in pre-medical sciences and attended Sidney Kimmel Medical College in pursuit of an M.D. I transferred to Thomas Jefferson University where I graduated with a Masters in Basic Medical Sciences and produced a capstone thesis research study on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on patients with Opioid Use Disorder. During the pandemic, I discovered a love for programming, and that is where my software engineering pursuit began.

Aside from my career, I love arts & crafts, traveling, musicals, food, and anything cat related!
